Let’s be honest, the beauty industry is not known for being the most empowering. And while it’s super fun to get new makeup and explore beautiful new products, there’s a lot of pressure out there to look a certain way and age – forever. However, there are also some incredibly uplifting voices in the industry, teaching people to define beauty for themselves, and step outside of the confines of aging as prescribed by our culture. The idea of ‘reverse aging’ is incredibly appealing. Can we actually change our inner landscape to support a more radiant (younger looking) appearance? In our quest to answer this question, we’re sharing five approaches (treatments) for ‘reverse aging’ and the practitioners we’ve encountered who are known for results… send us a DM if you try any of these.

Cosmetic Acupuncture is a procedure that places needles in key areas on the face to boost collagen, reduce wrinkles, support relief from acne, and reduce puffiness – from the inside out. It’s been compared to Botox in terms of effectiveness, but it’s holistic, as the treatment itself supports body, mind, and spirit. One of the first people in Vancouver to offer cosmetic acupuncture is a woman named Amanda Beisl, who runs a holistic clinic called SKN in Yaletown, with a mission to inspire and educate people about how to care for their skin and selves. Other notable clinics and practitioner that offer cosmetic acupuncture include The Nest, Lisa Davicioni, and Yaletown Wellness.

Energetic facials that include Facial Gua Sha, Face Reading, and intuitive healing? Sign us up. Gretchen Oppenheim at Wildflower Beauty Bar in Port Moody offers energetic facials that weave in combinations of Face Reading, Facial Reflexology, and Gua Sha, with the purpose of helping her clients change their skin from the inside out, through energetic and emotional clearing, guided breathwork, caring for themselves deeply, and enjoying the sweetness of life. The results are incredible.

Sculptural facelifting with Buccal Massage improves blood circulation and lymphatic drainage, normalizes cellular respiration, promotes tissue nourishment, and smoothes fine lines and wrinkles. Dr. Tedi Fishcher at The Nest is known for this reverse-aging treatment, along with cosmetic acupuncture, and medical microneedling. She has a reputation for great results.

Deep meditation changes our biology, and while this may sound like too much of a ‘long game’ approach to looking and feeling younger, it’s truly amazing what can happen when you tap into Theta states of meditation, which bring the body into deep healing states of inner coherence, and support cellular repair. When you meet (more than one) shamanic healers and meditation teachers in their 60’s that look more radiant than most 30 year olds, you pay attention! So, if you’re ready to go deeper with your meditation and spiritual life, we recommend Anna Dorian’s The Magical Life container, a combination of deep inner work and sacred play, Corrina Choe’s guided journeys, Dr. Joe Dispenza’s meditation courses and retreats, and Mama Medicine’s Apprenticeship.
