That whisper in your heart telling you it’s time to explore the realms of spiritual entrepreneurship…is it getting louder? If so, you’re not alone.

Since March of 2020, wellness and spiritual seekers from all walks of life have started to realize that they have medicine to share with the world, just like their favourite teachers and healers. Spiritual entrepreneurship is calling people like never before.

I’ve had the honour of guiding many of these individuals in turning their dreams and visions into reality, something I don’t take lightly. After having spent much of my life lacking confidence and living by the motto “if you don’t dream you’ll never be disappointed”, learning how to face my fear of failure and overcome perfectionism has not only been life-changing for me, but it’s allowed me to go on to help others make massive changes within their own lives and their clients’ lives.

Whether your intention is to create a heart-centered empire, a soulful side hustle, or simply a passion project to help you grow professionally and spiritually, there has never been a better time for spiritual entrepreneurship than RIGHT NOW!  Here’s how you can begin to align with your dreams in 2022.

Uncover Your Deep Core Why

Your Deep Core Why is the driving force behind your vision. It extends beyond wanting to make money or having the freedom and flexibility that comes with being your own boss. Your Deep Core Why is greater than yourself and is often reflective of the impact you want to make in the lives of others.

When I started my personal training business in 2013, I was one year sober and a completely different person than I was the year before. I was confident, compassionate, and empathetic, all traits I’d spent the last 10 years drinking away. I wondered “if moving my body and taking care of myself can do this for me…what can it do for others? How will that ripple out into the world?

Do you want to help people feel seen and understood in the ways you were searching for? Do you want to show your children that anything is possible for them? Do you want to leave a better planet for our future generations?

When you’re clear on your Deep Core Why, you’ll be better-equipped to navigate the inevitable rocky periods that come with embarking on the journey of going from Seeker to Practitioner, or to launching a spiritual business. You’ll have a greater purpose to be motivated by when resistance rears its head or you find yourself in a phase where you just don’t wanna.

The process of uncovering your Deep Core Why is simple: think about what you want to do or create, and ask yourself “why is this important to me?” When you have an answer, ask yourself again “why is THIS important to me?” Channel your inner four-year-old and keep asking “why” until you get to the root of your vision. That, my friend, is your Deep Core Why.

My Deep Core Why? I believe that every single person on this planet has something special the world needs, whether it’s a business that could change the lives of hundreds or, closer to home, the ability to raise kind and confident children. I know that when we’re well-supported and resourced, we become better-equipped to share those gifts. While the ways in which I go about fulfilling my Deep Core Why have shifted over the last nine years, that notion has always been my north star.

Lead with Curiosity

A quick Google search will lead you to hundreds of articles and videos telling you that inside you’ll find the best way to accomplish whatever it is you’re trying to accomplish. There are six-step formulas for everything from creating a program to generating six figures online. And while these resources are helpful, there’s no guarantee they will work for you and your unique situation.

This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do the research and follow the advice! In fact, I spent the first 18 months of my business learning everything through free resources and workshops. But what I discovered is that testing out what I learned with an air of curiosity about whether or not it would work led to far better results than attaching to specific outcomes.

The key to spiritual entrepreneurship is approaching business with a sense of play, exploration, and experimentation. When I finally learned this, I was able to learn what felt good, what didn’t, and why. On the other hand, when I went into a new endeavour believing that it was going to be the thing that would launch my business into the ethers of success, I was often left disappointed and questioning what my perceived failure said about me.

Any time you’re about to try a new tool or launch a new offering, try approaching it through the lens of “let’s try and see what happens”. Get clear on what kinds of feedback would be helpful to you: are you looking for sign ups? Likes or comments? Or something more subtle, like how sharing this specific offering publicly feels in your body? Get clear on what would make this experiment a success beyond the specific things we often label as “results” and then get out there and take some messy action.

Work With Your Unique Energetic Blueprint

Systems such as astrology, human design, and the enneagram are incredibly popular these days, and for good reason. They give us deeper insights into who we are, how we best operate, and ultimately, what we signed up to learn in this lifetime. A word I often use to describe how these systems make me feel is validated.

I’m a Capricorn sun, which is the only sign I knew about up until a few years ago. I identify as a Capricorn the majority of the time; I’m structured, goal-oriented, and I’m not afraid of putting in consistent effort over a long period of time for a pay-off way later down the road. But every now and then, I’d find myself wanting to rebel against the systems I’ve created for myself, burn everything down, and start it all over again. It was incredibly frustrating because—hello—I’m supposed to be a super structured and organized Capricorn.

While these moments were occasionally a byproduct of hormonal fluctuations within my menstrual cycle (another topic for another day!), what I later learned is that both my moon and rising sign are in Aquarius, meaning there’s a hefty dose of rebelliousness in my chart. Similarly, discovering I’m a manifesting generator in human design gave me permission to stop trying to fit into the neat and tidy box I’d been trying to stuff myself into after years of business coaches telling me I needed a clearly-defined niche.

Understanding your unique energetic blueprint is at the heart of spiritual entrepreneurship. When you can do this, you’ll be better able to discern which tools and strategies are best aligned to you, your needs, and your desires. You learn to work at a pace that matches your energy levels (a projector trying to work like a manifesting generator is no bueno), and you gain insight on the direction you’re meant to take in this life (hello, North Node!).

If you haven’t explored these aspects of yourself yet, use your birth date, time, and location to find your natal chart in astrology, your human design chart, and your enneagram profile. They can take you down some major rabbit holes so I suggest giving yourself a time limit on how much research you do; the goal is to bring your dreams to life, not spend the next six months doing an astrological deep dive!

When reviewing your charts and profiles, make note of which elements of these systems help you bring a little more You into how you show up and what you offer. Does your manifesting generator profile give you permission to be your multidimensional self as it does for me? Does your Scorpio moon show you how you like to go deep into the feels? You’ll also want to notice which elements represent some of your shadowy aspects of Self to be aware of as you embark on this new journey. For example, impatience is a trait common to manifesting generators; we want to do all the things and we want to see the fruits of our labour blossom yesterday!

Collapse Timelines

Lastly, spend some time in meditation connecting to this future vision. What do you want to create? How do you want to make an impact? If you can’t quite “see” this vision yet, how do you want to feel? Collect as much information as you can about this future vision and then put pen to paper and brainstorm the traits and qualities you embodied that allowed you to get there. Did you have to tap into unshakable levels of confidence? Cultivate the safety to let yourself be seen? Stop scrolling on Instagram until midnight?

The quickest way to cast ourselves into the future is to get clear on who the future versions of ourselves are, and to then begin embodying them today. This is what sets spiritual entrepreneurship apart from traditional business.

A common question is “who do I need to be to get where I want to go?” But the truth is, as a soul-led entrepreneur, you don’t need to be anyone but yourself. Your dreams are your dreams for a reason and you already have everything within you that you need to succeed.

So rather than ask “who do I need to be?”, instead ask “which traits that I already possess that I need to turn the volume way up on?” And then do what you need to do to let those parts of yourself shine as often as possible.
