Visualize the energies of the next several months as that of an airliner that’s just coming in for a smooth, safe landing after flying through difficult, turbulent, stormy weather. This Spring, we’re energetically coming into the experience of a safe landing, where the turbulence is still there, but it’s not what we notice most. If you were to stand on the tarmac after the plane has landed and look at the sky, you would still see rolling gray clouds. You would feel the rain and the wind against your skin. You know the storm is still there. But you no longer need to navigate the storm’s chaotic energies. This is where we’re all arriving.
The analogy of a safe landing
The emotional and energetic “weather” in the world right now is extremely turbulent. The plane analogy is a reminder that we have the capacity to steer ourselves out of the emotional and energetic storms that are being created by larger uncontrollable events.
One of the things happening now is that many of us are being called to access the deep wells of resilience we didn’t know we had. Resilience – the skill needed to adapt and bounce back – can be learned. Cultivating resilience can help all of us get through the rough patches. Cultivating resilience often involves asking for support from others.
Support comes in many forms. Whether it’s seeking help through therapy or a support group, turning to a faith community, finding a practitioner, being in the presence of a beloved animal companion – or all of the above. At times we may need to have someone hold us through grief or expressing our deep feelings, simply by being present and not trying to fix or solve anything.
Receiving support from someone who is skilled and unafraid of witnessing our deepest emotions provides a coherent field of energy that supports us into acceptance, stability, predictability, and wholeness. Being in a coherent field calms and settles our nervous system. From that calmed place, we are better able to separate ourselves from the larger emotional and energetic storms that surround us, and into the grounded presence of our true selves.
Storms: old and new
Over the next several months, existing storms will continue and new ones will unfold. Now’s the time to remember: you have a well of resilience within you. You have the capacity to bring your energy and attention back from the turbulence you can’t control and ground yourself into your body. All it takes is the consistent practice of remembering that you can turn your attention away from the energetic and emotional storms and bring your awareness to your body in the present moment.
The stormy weather will be here for a while. Fostering resilience, finding coherence, and grounding in our bodies will give all of us the tools to reclaim our energy as we weather the storms. This is what will bring more presence to our daily lives. Yes, it’s stormy outside, but storms eventually end. Coherence, resilience, and grounding are what will help us navigate through them and land safely home to ourselves.
