Come join this fun and inspirational DJ training for folks wanting to learn the foundations of DJ and weaving together a set.

With this special In Person hands on opportunity to learn the tactile skills of Djing and to connect with other embodied music lovers and deepen your craft.

Guided by Naomi Jason and Lila Sofiyah, facilitators and leaders in the Ecstatic Dance field.

 

You will receive:

• DJ skills to create a continuous mix of mindfully curated music.

• The skills to craft an DJ set, a dance journey or if you are already a dance/embodiment/movement facilitator take your skills to the next level to learn how to create mixes for your classes.

• Connection with others on a similar path, creating community and possible opportunities for collaboration.

What’s included:

• 1 Full day in person hands on training
• 2 online calls live and recorded to set you up and for support and follow up after the in person training
• An intuitive guide to DJ software through the lens of Traktor Pro (translatable to other software)
• The skills to create your own DJ mixes
• PDF manual of instruction
• A holistic approach to music curation
• Demos, Practice time and Q & A in real time
• Group community, supported by the facilitators

• Foundations of DJ software

• Organizing your music library
• Genres, BPMs, Mixing in Key
• Music Curation Foundations
• Basic DJ skills: Syncing, Cueing
• Transitioning tracks seamlessly
• Intro to Looping, Effects, EQ’s
• Demos to see all this Live
• Practice to use these skills in real time
• And more!

Why take this training?

Naomi and Lila have been guiding ecstatic dance journeys for the past 16 + years as part of a collective of women holding Dance Temple, a thriving weekly conscious dance journey that happens both on Salt Spring Island and in Victoria on the West Coast of Canada. Many who have experienced Dance Temple have expressed that it’s their favorite dance floor which feels like a testament to the magic that has been woven and seeded through the many years of curating these spaces. Bringing their years of experience as facilitators, DJ’s and event producers, Naomi and Lila along with an experienced selection of guest teachers, give you a well rounded, interactive, supportive environment to feel confident and inspired crafting conscious dance journeys for your community. As Ecstatic Dance continues to grow, they are excited to support the expansion of this powerful movement medicine into more communities around the world.

The Foundations in DJing Training is part of the Dance Weavers Conscious Dance Program that includes trainings modules in DJing, Facilitation and Leadership each module a stand alone training while being part of the greater Dance Weavers School.
