Ananda Washington is known as a beautiful community in service to yoga and spirituality. Ananda is a global movement based on the teachings of Paramhansa Yogananda, author of “Autobiography of a Yogi.” Ananda was founded in 1968 in northern California by Swami Kriyananda, one of Yogananda’s direct disciples trained and commissioned by him. At Ananda Washington, they offer courses, meditation trainings, and retreats.
Islandwood Retreat Center, on Bainbridge Island, is a quaint, sublime destination to go on a yoga retreat. Surrounded by views of the meadows and forest outside, Islandwood offers a beautiful setting for gatherings and retreats. There are four sleeping lodges that combine the comfort of modern accommodations with the natural rustic beauty of the Northwest. The lodges have a total of 53 guestrooms, each with a private bathroom, and can sleep up to 200 guests. Every lodge has a spacious great room with a fireplace and seating for gathering, game-playing, reading, and relaxing. All beds on our property are made up with organic cotton bedding for a dreamy nights sleep!
The Whidbey Institute is another stunning Whidbey Island location. Their overnight accommodations for groups onsite include a cabin village in the forest, an historic Farmhouse in our heartland, and Granny’s, a woodland home. Together, these cabins and homes sleep 30, generally one or two per room. Space for campers with tents is available in the summer.
