The Desire for More…
There’s two kinds of desire.
The kind that comes from a desire to fill a void. To tend an emptiness.
And the kind that comes from devotion.
From the outside, it may be tricky to tell the difference. Both whisper, I desire more. But from the inside, they feel worlds apart. With entirely different roots.
One kind of more is born from the story of not enough. Not successful enough. Not loved enough. Not accomplished enough. This one chases accumulation. More things, more validation, more proof.
That kind of seeking keeps what is truly desired just beyond reach.
The other kind of more doesn’t come from lack. It comes from aliveness, and from peace in knowing I am enough, I have enough, there will always be enough.
And, when you are devoted to evolution, to growth, to truth, to the refinement of your own being, of course you desire more.
Deeper.
Truer.
Because being alive is about movement. Breath expands and contracts. Seasons ripen and release. Nothing in existence is designed to stay static.
To live devoted to growth is to recognize that there is always more. There’s always deeper layer available. A truer expression. A widening of the range of being human.
There’s more AND it’s enough at the same time.
This is the deepening.
The spiral of life.
Growth isn’t linear. It’s dynamic.
The truth of the moment changes as you do.
And life always calls you forward.
Not because you are inadequate or it’s not enough, but because you have the capacity to hold more and live it into being.
This kind of desire feels different in the body.
It is not frantic.
It is not hungry in a grasping or seeking way.
It is steady. Curious. Devoted.
It says, ‘I am wildly grateful for who I am.
And I know I will continue to meet deeper shades of my own truth.
I am deeply thankful for what I have.
And I am willing to receive all that is here for me.’
This is the paradox of conscious growth. Living in fierce gratitude and ongoing deepening at the same time.
The challenge many of us feel comes from a conflict between gratitude and growth.
We fear that wanting more means we are ungrateful.
Or we worry that contentment with what is means stagnation.
But it is entirely possible, and actually necessary, to hold both.
To stand in reverence for what is.
And to walk toward what is becoming.
Life itself models this truth.
We accept that things decay, that forms dissolve, that nothing lasts forever.
We understand that time wears on things and that eventually everything ends.
But we often interpret change only through the lens of loss.
What if change is not only erosion but also ripening?
A fruit falls from the tree because it reached fullness.
A season shifts because its expression is complete.
Not all transformation is degradation. So much of the transformation available for us is in the deepening. The ephemeral nature of life is not merely a reminder that things end: It is also an invitation to live in continual becoming. Nothing is meant to stay the same. Not because it isn’t enough, but because it is alive. So how do we create more from this place?
We listen deeply.
Move with intention.
Lean all the way in.
We answer the call of the moment as it arises.
And we get to experience momentum building from devotion instead of pressure.
And truth deepening our range.
More then becomes a response to an invitation, not a reaction rooted in scarcity.
It becomes the natural outcome of choosing presence and living wildly alive.
When you are devoted to your own evolution, you know there will always be another edge to soften beyond.
A refinement in how you love.
A call for greater integrity.
A new perception or perspective.
Not because you are behind or incomplete, but because existence itself is limitless.
And so we get to live in this exquisite balance.
Rooted in gratitude.
Leaning into possibility.
Satisfied and still becoming.
This is the beauty and challenge of a life devoted to exploration, growth and ultimately truth.
We’re not striving to fill a void: We’re willingly walking into the endless unfolding of what it means to be fully, wildly alive.
