Where To Try Breathwork In LA

Guided breathwork has become increasingly popular this decade, for so many very good reasons. Breathwork is a very powerful form of meditation that releases anxiety from the body, boosts our intuition, supports nervous system regulation, and is even linked to health benefits such as improving our digestion, sleep, and cognitive functioning. All of this is possible simply through connecting with our own breath, to reconnect with our life force vitality.

There are several different styles of active breathwork, including Holotropic Breathwork, Conscious Connected Breathwork, Re-Birthing and Clarity Breathwork, and each brings a unique flavour. If you’re brand new to breathwork, read this article on what you need to know, and how to start a breathwork practice.

In LA, these are the breathwork practitioners that we’d recommend:

Ana Lilia

Join the lovely Ana Lilia at one of her virtual community breathwork circles, breathwork mentorship programs, or in-person one-to-one sessions. Her Saturday breathwork circles are offered virtually to all. You can show up, share how you feel and remember that you’re not alone. Ana also offers a breathwork mastermind which teaches how to use breathwork for manifestion. You can explore her live breathwork events at places like Venice beach. Learn more about her upcoming events here.

Shanila Sattar

Shanila Sattar offers breathwork events around the greater LA area and online. She’s frequently found offering breathwork gatherings at places like Unplug Meditation and The Tree in South LA. More recently, she’s created many virtual offerings including her Sunday Breathwork Circle that you can find on her site, Always Play Studios. She’s also created a Healing Arts Practitioner program that mentors aspiring breathwork practitioners.

Madeline Giles

Madeline Giles is a popular LA teacher, who describes her breathwork offerings as Angelic Breath Healing experiences. In each gathering- live or virtual- you are invited to remember yourself as nature. To attune and receive the powerful voice, steadfast presence, and loving guidance of Mother Earth as an emanation from within you. Madeline also offers one-to-one sessions and retreats. John Paul Crimi

In John Paul’s guided breathwork classes (both virtual and live), JP will explain the technique and some of the things you may experience with humor and east coast straightforwardness. He’s worked at a gym for years, and his style is definitely more coach-like and less soft than the others recommended here. John Paul appeal to those straight shooters who like a good pep talk, but don’t like too much flowerly language with their healing. Expect some swearing. Learn more HERE.
