Rest and Renew – Somatics and Restorative Yoga
September 2 @ 4:30 pm - September 23 @ 5:30 pm PDT
An event every week that begins at 4:30 pm on Wednesday, repeating until Sep 30, 2020
This gentle restorative class is designed to relax your muscles, reset your alignment and calm your mind. The first part of the class begins with some breathing exercises, and moves on to clinical somatic exercises to target muscle tension and retrain your brain to move your body better. We’ll then practice a series of relaxing restorative yoga poses to enhance the practice and allow yourself to drop into the parasympathetic nervous system.
You can watch live, or view the recording anytime for up to 30 days afterwards.
Each week we will practice something new as well as review exercises and poses from the previous weeks.
Benefits of this class include:
reduced muscle tension and stress
reduced joint and muscle pain
After just a few weeks you’ll start to feel the difference in your body and mind and learn exercises you can do anytime during the week on your own when you need a few minutes to relax and target specific areas of the body.
Yoga bolster OR assortment of pillows
Yoga blocks (foam chip and foam block) OR stack of books
Yoga Strap OR a soft belt
a blanket or two
soft place (carpet or mat) to lie down with enough space to extend your arms and legs on all sides
Note: Restorative yoga poses do not need fancy props. If you have the above mentioned yoga props that’s great – otherwise just have an assortment of pillows, blankets and a soft belt handy.
