The Heart of Recovery incorporates the practice of meditation, readings, and discussion. Our meeting is open to anyone who identifies as a woman and is recovering from any addiction.

We fold into our practice the Shambhala and Buddhist tenets of Heart of Recovery and Refuge Recovery — which call upon mindfulness, compassion, forgiveness, generosity and renunciation — to heal the pain and suffering that addiction has caused in our lives and the lives of our loved ones. We understand that “all beings have the power and potential to free themselves from suffering.”

Our goal is to integrate the basic sanity of the Dharma and the basic goodness of meditation with our commitment to recovery.

About Berkely Shambhala:

Spark your heart and mind through the practice of meditation. Shambhala Vision is rooted in the principle that every human being has a fundamental nature of basic goodness. This nature can be developed in daily life so that it radiates out to family, friends, community and society.

SHAMBHALA takes its name from a legendary kingdom famous for being an enlightened society. Today, the global Shambhala network brings together people of all ages and from all walks of life who are interested in exploring our own minds, transforming our experience, and awakening our potential for enlightened society.

Shambhala is based on trust in human dignity. We offer a path of meditation practice and contemplative arts oriented towards modern life. Our communities around the world cultivate kindness, bravery, and genuine dialogue.  Our vision is to inspire compassionate, sustainable, and just human societies.
