About

At Breathing Space Counselling, our team believes that healing begins when we’re given the opportunity to slow down, breathe, feel truly seen and understood.

In a world that constantly asks us to do more, be more, and keep pushing forward, we offer something different—a space to pause. A space where you can exhale, untangle what’s been weighing on you (with the help of skilled support), and begin reconnecting with yourself and the people who matter most.

The meaning of “Breathing Space” holds so many layers: Space to reflect instead of react. Space to understand ourselves with compassion instead of criticism. Space to discover new ways of relating to our thoughts, emotions, and relationships.

We believe that healing isn’t about becoming someone different—it’s about reconnecting with who you’ve always been beneath the stress and pain, and long before the expectations of life started weighing on you.

Breathing Space Counselling offers child, youth, teen, individual, and relationship counselling for people navigating life’s challenges.

We work with people in all types of relationships — including married and not-married couples, dating partners, co-parents, and those in consensually non-monogamous and polyamorous relationships. Every relationship is unique, and we are committed to creating an inclusive, affirming environment where all people feel welcomed, respected, and understood.

Our clients come to us for many different reasons. Some are navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, or major life transitions. Others are hoping to strengthen their relationships, improve communication, rebuild trust, or better understand themselves. There isn’t one “right” reason to seek counselling. If something in your life feels difficult, painful, or no longer serves you, that’s reason enough.

We know that beginning therapy can feel vulnerable. That’s why we place so much importance on the relationship we build with each client. Research consistently shows that one of the strongest predictors of successful therapy isn’t a particular technique—it’s the quality of the therapeutic relationship. Feeling safe, understood, and accepted creates the foundation for meaningful change, and that’s what we strive to offer every person who walks through our doors.

Behind Breathing Space Counselling is a team of skilled, compassionate, and experienced counsellors who genuinely care about the people they serve. While each member of our team brings their own personality, expertise, and therapeutic style, we all share a common belief: people heal best when they feel accepted, respected, and supported.

We have thoughtfully built a team that values authenticity, curiosity, lifelong learning, and creating meaningful connections with every client we meet. Our hope is that when you reach out, you’ll find a counsellor who feels like the right fit for you.

Reaching out for support is an act of courage. Whether you’re seeking counselling for yourself, your child, or your relationship, we’re honoured to be considered as part of your journey.

Lasting change begins first with taking the space to breathe. Only then can we feel into and move towards the next right step.
